Alpha-lipoic acid (ALA) is an organic chemical compound from the carboxylic acid group. Alpha-lipoic acid is produced in the human body, but can also be found in spinach, broccoli, yeast, potatoes, carrots, beets and red meat. The human body can synthesise it in small quantities, nevertheless it is also recommended as a dietary supplement.
