Chromium is a metallic element belonging to the essential trace elements that we need to consume in small amounts on a regular basis. Chromium is also needed by the body for the metabolism of protein, carbohydrate and fat. Chromium supplementation is particularly worthwhile when demand is increased, such as with a high-carbohydrate diet (e.g. athletes). Also to compensate for reduced chromium intake (e.g. in old age).
